What is a Hair replacement system?
A custom hair solution for people with different types of hair loss.  These are also known as a hairpiece, a wig, a toupee, or any non-surgical hair replacement that is glued, taped, or maybe even sewn into your existing hair.
If you think about toupees or wigs you are probably thinking about a piece of hair on the shelf that you purchase and just stick on your head and it looks ridiculous.  It will likely not be the exact same color as your hair, it will not fit well, and will not look natural.  This is true for old school wigs/toupees, but things have come a long way and the latest terms used “hair replacement systems” were coined in order to explain the difference and advances in the technology.
Hair systems is really just a newer coined term that gets away from the negative connotation of wigs, toupees, and hair pieces.  It’s a matter of semantics, so now that you know this we can move on to what exactly hair systems are, how they work, how they are attached, and if it makes sense for you.
There are many companies selling hair replacement systems including Hair Club for men, Farrell Hair Replacement, and others. They will custom make a hair piece for your head that fits your head, matches your hair color, and blends well.  You will normally have two hair pieces.  One will be worn and the other is for maintenance.
You will need to affix the hair piece to your head some how.  Tape, glue, and even lacing to existing hair are the common ways to attach the hair.  Remember you real hair will still grow, so you can’t just put this hair piece on and leave it.  You need to wash it, comb, and style it, and it does require maintenance.
Maintenance fees will run you $100-$300 per month and some of the companies will lock you into a contract where they maintain your extra hair piece.
The pros are you have what appears to be a real head of hair, but none of them are perfect.  You might fool people from a distance, but your close friends, relatives, and partners will likely know you are wearing something that is not real.
I hope this provides you a good idea of what a hair system is all about.  If you have a hair replacement system and would like to leave a review please let us know.
