I use a Remmington electric razor to shave my head...I have been
told that the blades wear out sooner, but mine have lasted for
a good while...I get a very close shave, without any rashes or
nicks...I first tried the razor, then went to the Norelco, but
had bad luck with both...the Remmington is doing a fabulous job...I
also rub a light layer of baby powder on my face and head before
I shave; this helps me get a really close shave...thanks...

I have been polishing my chrome for well over a year and there
is no going back. I'm most interested in waxing - and am getting
closer to having the yams to do it. I will give a full report
on it - the pain, effectiveness, etc. In the meantime, I shave
twice a week with my wife's Lady Gilette. The handle is perfect
- much better than any razor handle for guys. I shave in a hot
shower with nothing but conviction - no soap, no lotion, no oil,
no mirror. I feel with one hand, shave with the other and let
the hot water do it's thing. The trick is to Noxema when done.
I've used Novema on my face for years as soap dries my skin. So
I shave when I first get in the shower, then liberally apply Noxema
on my head and let sit as I wash the rest of my emm...chiseled
physique (yeah, that's the ticket.) then I finish by rinsing my
head. I get out, pat dry and finish with fresh aloe- or some of
my wife's moisturizer. Voila, smooth, shiny and dead sexy. Oh,
and to the dude who wears hats because of scars, two-toned skin,
whatever. Screw that - the only perfect head is one that is perfectly
shaved - all those scars, dents, nooks and crannies make our heads,
well...bad-ass! Unless you have leprosy, I say shave that melon!

how to shave your head while it's thick

I've been shaving for 6 months now and love it. I'll never grow
out my hair again. I have thick black hair that is thinning on
top. Shaving has been one of the best things I've done for myself.
It feels and looks great. I shave up, or against the growth. I've
tried all the blades and all the creams. In the shower I find
that regular hair conditioner softens the stubble quickly. But
it takes over 5 minutes and wastes too much water so I now opt
to shave prior to taking a shower. I lather up with Barbasol and
shave with the growth first then a second time against the growth.
I then shower to wash off the remaining cream. After a towel dry
I use a bit of aloe lotion to condition the skin. The aloe leaves
a very sexy shine. I have discarded all but my Mach 3 razors.
Don't bother with anything else. It's well worth the money. I
am a professional and was concerned about the office's reaction.
I buzzed shorter and shorter for months before the skin shave
and all went well. I LOVE BEING BALD ! I look forward to my morning
shave every day.

can you give some pointers about how to shave my head!!!
email: jdandy60@hotmail.com
Suggestion
Hi, I shaved my head for a two year period. During that time
I probally had more compliments than any other time with hair.
What I would do is every night shave with a razor blade, getting
it baby butt smooth. In the morning, I would quickly run an electric
razor over it after the shower. Then again in the afternoon when
I returned from work. This might sound alittle extreme, however,
the results were worth every minute of it. Also, the women in
my life all loved it. They agreed that there was nothing compared
to the feel of a perfectly shaved head.
email: andrew.r.cooke@usdoj.gov
Suggestion
A good investment for anyone shaving their head is a fogless
shower mirror. You will get a much closer shave (with fewer nicks)
if you shave your head when it is soft, warm, and wet.
email: nursemate64735@yahoo.com
Suggestion
Baby oil is the best way. It makes the hair really soft and easy
to remove. Just put it on about two hours before shaving and rap
it with a clinging wrap to hold it against the scalp. And if your
shaving for the first time add the baby oil to your shampoo and
leave in the hair, after you rinse, reapply the baby oil and let
it stay on then blow dry the hair and clip it off, makes the clippers
cut so much easier. And when your done with the shave, then skin
is so smooth.
email: oneal@hullnumber.com
Suggestion
I have to say that shaving with the Mach3 Turbo is a lot better
than just the regular Mach3. The shave is a lot closer and the
results are smoother, with hardly any razor burn. I have been
using the Mach3 Turbo since it first came out and I haven't cut
myself once

I have recently tweezed my entire scalp using the Satinelle Electric
Tweezer. It took many hours and was painful but the results have
been fantastic. After the initial tweeze I must have been able
to remove about 90-95% of my hair. Some hairs were more difficult
and would not come out and a few were broken off intead of "plucked".
I allowed several days for regrowth which still kept my head looking
shaved because of the sparseness of the hair regrowing. It was
only at very close inspection that you could see that there were
sporadically placed hairs on my head. Again these were not patches
of hair. They were spread out rather evenly and were really not
noticeable. The retweezing was far less painful and times consuming
and left little redness. It has been twelve days since I started
to tweeze and have already retweezed twice. The former dark grey
shadow that I used to have even with the cleanest of shaves is
now a light pale grey. After I retweeze I run the Mach 3 over
my scalp to catch any "missed" hairs and my scapl feels
smoother and softer than it has ever felt. Once you make this
commitment you should realize that it will probably be at least
three months until you will be able to grow a "normal"
head of hair again. Trying this once for a brief period of time
should not have much impact on whether or not you will be able
to regrow your hair in the future, but repeated tweezing for a
long period of time may result in some permanant hair loss. Although
I have not made the final decision as to whether or not I will
tweeze for the long haul, I am happy that I tried it and love
the look of a more "natural" bald head.---Chris

I used to ask my wife to give me a close buzz with barbershop
electric clippers, but I've recently started using a blade after
I ran into an old friend who told me the technique. Get into the
shower, and put plenty of shaving cream on the relevant areas,
then (assuming you're right-handed) begin at the top of your right-side
hair area, making strokes from the front to the back, ending just
behind the ears. Continue down to the ears. Then reach over, and
do the left side the same way. Now you just have the back of your
head to do. Making strokes from top to bottom, move from right
to left until you've got it all. Rinse the rest of the shaving
cream off, and feel carefully with the tips of your fingers for
any spots you might have missed. You'll miss a few spots at first,
but you'll be surprised at how quickly you learn to get it all
the first time. Voila'! You're beautiful!

Get buzzed by the barber for several weeks or a month. Let others
adjust to your new look. Shave for the first time right after
the barber. Apply a cream (Noxema, e.g.) to your entire scalp.
Soak you scalp in a hot towel for several minutes. Heat the razor
(Shick triple blade for me) and shave cream (I use old-fashioned
cup). Keep lather hot. Apply to one side of your head first. Shave
in the direction hair grows. Repeat, hot towel. Apply cream to
other side of the head and shave. If you don't rash easily (I
don't), then lather again and shave against the direction of hair
growth. Rise, and pat (don't rub!) dry. Apply a emolient cream
very sparingly to give a smooth, un-shiny finish. Do not let others
refer to you as bald. I'm not bald: I'm shaved.

purchased a travel fog free mirrior (to take whereever I go) and
shave, nick free, in the shower every morning. Also, a rich moisturizer
(aloe, vitamin E) is essential, especially in the cold weather.

I have struggled with alopecia totalis for nearly two years and
have finally chosen to be bald, bold, and handsome. One product
that promises to "stunt" regrowth by preventing the
bonding of proteins and "cornification" of the inner
core of the hair shaft is called Hair-Away. it is made by Victoria
Bodyworks Company and the web address is www.hairaway.com. This
product is, according to the maker, made of "all natural
botanical" ingredients and can prevent regrowth for up to
three months if used as reccomended. They claim that it will not
damage the hair follicles and that hair will regrowth about three
months after use has been discontinued. I have only just begun
the proess so I can not testify as to the safety or the effectiveness
of the product but think that it may be interesting to see if
other men have the desired results. For those who wish to eliminate
hair on other parts of their physiques, the product was designed
primarily for that purpose.

Shaving my head(the result of numerous threats toward my gray
and thinning recalcitrant head fringe, which did no good)turned
out to be harder than I had thought. Gillette two-blade disposables
work fine, and even in the shower where you can't see--(can you
see even OUT of the shower?)--it works pretty well because you
can shave with one hand and feel your progress with the other.
You still have to check in a mirror when you get out, though.
I sometimes get a headaache when a cool breeze blows over me right
after a shave, but it's worth it. A Norelco works well on a flat
surface, but it only makes contact at one very small point at
one time (No jokes, please.) The only drawback is when I shave
there is always a zit forming somewhere and is naked for all the
world to see. I did think of renting out the back of my head (where
I can't see) and tattooing Coca-Cola or MasterCard or something.
It would call attention away from my zits and even provide me
with a small income. Comments?

Hi guys! I'm 20 years old, and I've been bald for about 2 1/2

fact, it left me with a certain degree of abrasiveness on top.
It also hurt quite a bit. I then switched to the mach 3 razor

up your scalp. Good luck, and clean shaves! Adam

of the hair with little irritation giving me a much smoother shave.
After shaving I use an Aloe based lotion to condition the scalp
so it doesn't dry out. And by the way, since I have been shaving
more women have noticed me and they like what they see. I love
it and will never go back !

While I agree with each of your shaving steps, I find I get an
even smoother shave without the use of shaving cream in a hot
shower.

Definately use oil, I like mineral oil (and it's cheap) in place
of shaving creams or gels, also sofen the hair and open the pores
& folicles by shaving in the shower or right after. The Mach
III is my razor of choice. Also go with your hair grain, usually
front to back and down for the back.

Hi, I am interested in going bald. I unfortunately have a full
head of hair but am investigating ways to remedy that. I have
shaved my head in the past but found it too much hassle to keep
it nice and smooth and ended up letting the hair grow back after
a short time.
I have come across substances that actually retard the growth
of hair- they are mostly used by bodybuilders, etc. but can also
work on the scalp. One such substance called Hair No More is used
by my trainer and he told me that it really helped to keep the
hair away (he keeps his whole body shaved). You have to use it
right after shaving and with regular use slows the growth and
ultimately results in hairless skin. Then you are addicted to
it like Rogaine. There are several products like this that are
available over the internet. Another is called Hair Away and it
works in a similar fashion.
What I am in the process of trying is to use these products without
shaving my head (I wear my hair really short anyway) and see if
I can get myself to "go bald" in a more natural fashion.
I am rubbing the stuff on 2 or 3 times a day. So far, not much
is happening but I have only been doing it for a couple of weeks.
Don't want it to go too fast, anyway. If you're interested, I'll
keep you posted on my progress.

I started shaving my head about ten years ago. For me, the standard
Gillette good news twin blade works great. The key, however, to
that shiney clean look seems to be the following proceedure: *Shave
it in the shower- the steam and warm moist air soften the skin
and (in my case few desperate remaining bits of) hair. * Shave
thoroughly and slowly. * Use a good quality shaving cream. * Pat,
rather than rub dry when finished. * Apply a decent, alcohol free
skin lotion or aftershave wash. This keeps the scalp from drying
out. Rub this in well. * Apply a decent aftershave lotion over
that. It cuts the greasy feeling from the lotion. *Run a clean
towel or cloth over the melon. This gets stray hairs- there are
often quite a few. * Check the look in a mirror. Dry shave those
little spots you may have missed and reapply lotion and after
shave if nec. *Shave every two days. If you shave the thing every
day, you get a rash- the scalp does not toughen as well as the
face does, and too frequent shaving irritates the hell out of
the old melon. The hair growth over those two days will change
the look- less shiney- and feel of the thing. But not enough for
the general public to notice.
Great site, by the way. I converted to skin after noticing that
I was cutting my hair shorter and shorter in an attempt to mimimize
the balding guy look. I was nervous as hell when I finally did
it. Once done, however, my girlfriend and family _told_ me never
to switch back.
If you like, I'd be willing to create a little mpeg or avi of
this technique for use on your site.

The absolute best way to shave one's head is with a norelco advantage
razor. The only disadvantage (no pun intended) is that the shaving
heads tend to wear out rather quickly and they're $30 a pop

Hey Fellow BALD brothers.I found that shaving in the shower and
using baby oil on your melon as a lubricant insted of shaving
gel leaves your head feeling much smoother when you are done.

I used a razor gillette sensor and water no after shave it has
alcohol in it and dries your skin out, also I used a skin lotion
mostly during the summer months. Once its tanned it will have
a shine to it I have shved my beard down to a VanDyke. I used
to worry what people would say and most do not say any bad about
only the vain and imature people do.

I have been shaving my head for about five years. I tried electric
razors and found them pretty worthless. I then used the forty
year old Gillette safety razor my dad gave me. The problem with
it is you tend to cut yourself when the blades are new and irritate
your skin when the blades are used. Now, I find the Bic Plus razors
work very well. I lather with shaving cream and being left handed,
shave with my left hand and follow behind with my right hand to
feel for missed spots. I never use a mirror to see the back of
my head while shaving. I have become very good at this and very
rarely miss a spot. Lots of people, men and women, ask how I shave
my head. Also, women come on to me as much now as they did years
ago, when I had a long ponytail.
